This policy explains what data 10335401 Canada Inc. collects for Custom Fairytales, why we need it, and how to ask for access or deletion.
What we collect
- your email, account name and magic-link sign-in history;
- the name, age, interests and story idea entered by an adult;
- optional photos and videos of the child, the people, pets, toys and places you add to the book;
- the generated text, illustrations, PDFs and generation statuses;
- purchases, the credit ledger and the Stripe session ID — never full card data;
- for printing: recipient name, address, phone number and shipping details.
Why we use it
Only to sign you in, create and store your book, take payment, fulfil printing, answer support requests, prevent abuse and meet legal obligations. Children’s photos are never used for advertising, a public gallery, or training our own models without a separate, voluntary opt-in.
How photos and videos are handled
Before generation, the server rotates and downsizes each image and writes a fresh JPEG, which removes EXIF, GPS and any other embedded metadata. The original browser upload is not kept. The normalized private reference is available only to the owner of the book and to our internal generator.
A video you upload is used only to pick a few still frames from it. Those frames become ordinary references and are handled exactly like photos. To read the video at all, the machine that decodes it writes a temporary copy; that copy is deleted as soon as the frames have been extracted, including when the extraction fails. We do not keep the video itself, and it never becomes part of your book’s files.
Who we share it with
- Google Gemini API — text and the selected references, for generation;
- fal.ai (ByteDance Seedance) — the pages of the finished book, as frames, when you order a cartoon;
- Stripe — your email and the payment session;
- Lulu — print files and shipping details, once you order a print;
- our servers in Canada/US — account and file hosting.
Your data may be processed outside your province or country and may be subject to the laws of that jurisdiction.
Retention and deletion
Free and unfinished material may be deleted automatically after 30 days without activity. Purchased books are kept for as long as you need access to the order, or until you ask us to delete them, subject to accounting and legal retention periods. Payment records are stored separately from images.
Your rights
You can request a copy of your data, a correction, deletion of a book or its references, or withdraw consent to future processing. Write to hello@customfairytales.com from your account email. We may ask you to confirm your identity. Withdrawing consent does not undo a print that has already been produced, or records we are required by law to keep.
Security and incidents
We limit access, use TLS, single-use sign-in links, private file routes and server-to-server secrets. No storage is perfectly secure; in the event of an incident we act in accordance with applicable Canadian law.
